Note from your McBOAT
President |
Let me introduce myself, I am
the new President of McKinley Marina Boat Owners Association (McBOAT).
My wife Sam and I have been boating for over 20 years and have been
residents of McKinley for 11 years. We have been members of McBOAT for
most of those 11 years. You can find us in slip G-41.
We have seen a lot of improvements and we have seen some disappointments
here at McKinley. I feel that we have a very nice marina and I think
with everyone's help we can make it very special. I would welcome any
comments from our members or non-members at anytime. You may contact me
directly at (414) 791-8439 and I will listen to your concerns. We want
to work with the management of the marina and the County Parks
Department, and take any suggestions that may have relevance to them.
Just remember there is strength in numbers. We are always looking for
additional members and help on the Board and Committees.
We have a number of meetings and all are invited to attend. The Board
meets every first Monday of the month at 6:00pm generally at the
Roundhouse in the winter and at the Pavilion in the summer. Just look at
our website for dates and locations of meetings.
Our last educational meeting was well attended. This meeting featured
folks from the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters. They spoke about
the Great Lakes Compact, which is very important to all of us. More on
this later.
Hope to see you all this summer,
George Graubner |

Special Event No-Wake Zone
The Milwaukee Harbormaster has declared that a Slow No-Wake zone
shall be in effect and enforced in the Outer Harbor for 2 hours before

dangerous situation caused by boaters racing back to the launching ramps
after fireworks events.

The marina staff would like to remind
everyone that
the Pavilion is open to the
public from 7:00am until 7:00pm.

Strength in Numbers
From
USA Today Leaving Land: Did you Know that there are 53.6
million adult boaters. Boaters spend $16 billion on food and fuel
during boating. So we as boaters do have voice that can be heard. This
does not include the upkeep or storage, or marina fees. |

Fishing within McKinley Marina
There have been many complaints regarding fishing
within the McKinley Marina basin. The fishermen are allowed to fish
within the marina basin and fairways providing they are "position
fishing". This is defined as casting from a stationary boat, but not
anchored. They are not allowed to troll or tie to any dock or wall. If
you observe any violations of these rules contact the DNR warden or
Milwaukee County Sheriff. The marina staff cannot enforce these rules.
The DNR warden is David Oginski, he can be reached at
(414) 263-8549 or email at
david.oginskijr@wisconsin.gov
The Wisconsin DNR Tip Hotline number is
1-800-TIP-WDNR (1-800-847-9367) or from your cell phone dial #367.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff non-emergency phone
number is (414) 278-4788. |
