Note from your McBOAT
President
Let me introduce myself, I am
the new President of McKinley Marina Boat Owners Association (McBOAT).
My wife Sam and I have been boating for over 20 years and have been
residents of McKinley for 11 years. We have been members of McBOAT for
most of those 11 years. You can find us in slip G-41.
We have seen a lot of improvements and we have seen some disappointments
here at McKinley. I feel that we have a very nice marina and I think
with everyone's help we can make it very special. I would welcome any
comments from our members or non-members at anytime. You may contact me
directly at (414) 791-8439 and I will listen to your concerns. We want
to work with the management of the marina and the County Parks
Department, and take any suggestions that may have relevance to them.
Just remember there is strength in numbers. We are always looking for
additional members and help on the Board and Committees.
We have a number of meetings and all are invited to attend. The Board
meets every first Monday of the month at 6:00pm generally at the
Roundhouse in the winter and at the Pavilion in the summer. Just look at
our website for dates and locations of meetings.
Our last educational meeting was well attended. This meeting featured
folks from the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters. They spoke about
the Great Lakes Compact, which is very important to all of us. More on
this later.
Hope to see you all this summer,
George Graubner
At the Monday November 5th McBOAT
meeting the Board decided to have three general membership meetings each
year in addition to the monthly board meetings. The membership meetings
will be held in March, June and November. These meetings would allow for
an exchange of information between the Board and the members. You will
be brought up-to-date on issues affecting the marina and you will be
able to raise your concerns or make suggestions.
Support
the STRONG GREAT LAKES COMPACT
and the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters
McBOAT encourages you to contact your state
legislators to voice your support the Strong Great Lakes Compact bill
"SB 523" currently in the Wisconsin legislature. The compact was
developed to preserve our precious resource and prevent diversion or
depletion of the water in our Great Lakes. This bill will ratify
the good-faith agreement (compact) developed by the governors of the
eight states that surround the Great Lakes and the premiers of Quebec
and Ontario . The compact must be ratified by each state before it can
become federal law. Visit the
WLCV SB 523 website to view the status of the bill and to contact
your state legislators.
Established in 2002,
the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters (WLCV) is a nonprofit,
nonpartisan organization dedicated to electing conservation leaders to
the state legislature and encouraging lawmakers to champion conservation
policies that effectively protect
Wisconsin 's public health and natural resources. In pursuit of
its mission, WLCV engages in voter education, lobbying and issue
advocacy. WLCV also issues candidate endorsements and actively works for
the election of candidates committed to strong and effective
conservation policies.
